The Standard
GOSH Records signs artists, not outputs.
What generative-assisted means here
Generative music tools help realize performances and build sonic landscapes, allowing a songwriter-producer to bring fully imagined music into existence without the limitations of a traditional recording setup. What the record is about, how it is built and when it is finished stay with the author.
What every release meets
- The artist wrote the lyrics.
- The artist shaped the arrangement.
- The artist directed the production and chose the final master.
- The artist can account for every decision in the work.
What this is not
It is not a prompt submitted and accepted. It is not a catalogue generated at volume. A record nobody can speak for is not a record we will release.
Why we say it out loud
“AI music” is being used for two different things: work that was generated, and work that was authored and then realized with modern tools. They are not the same and they should not share a name. Generative-Assisted is the name for the second one. We publish the standard so an artist, a listener, or anyone writing about the work knows which one they are looking at.
